I can't tell you much about Mudlarking. A Government operative who wants to keep everything on the downlow. No names. No pack drill.

"I'm originally from Halifax in West Yorkshire. That's about as much as I can tell you but feel free to jazz it up or whatnot."

I don't think I need to do much jazzing. This is a super-tight EP, beautifully mastered by Antony at RedRedPaw. It's everything I love, but I'm so bonded to the little bit of roughness around the edges. It has an indefinable quality which I'm really struggling to put into words.

It's slightly raw, but that just makes me love it all the more. I've been obsessing about the roots of electropop over the last six months. This isn't that, but there's an essence of post punk infused through this. It's "tres moderne".

It is what it is. Don't go to Halifax to look for them. They are not there.

This is as good as the officially released WRNTDP titles on CIS. Very pleased to pick it up, where the pieces here are longer than most on the records they benefit from the slow unwinding they are afforded. The 18 minute live set excerpt is particularly immersive. Wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to release this on vinyl as a companion to the inevitable repressing of This Nation's Most Central Location. Great stuff. Oh and you get a cool magazine to read as well. Awesome. shaun rogan
